SFCHEFS 2010 SATURDAY AFTERNOON GRAND TASTING

The City's greatest Square is decked for an urban garden party and a truly unique culinary experience. Meet local chefs from over 25 renowned restaurants as they share tastes, along with 30 winemakers, 10 distillers and local and international brewers. Chef demonstrations on the Dacor Demonstration Stage will feature Bay Area rising stars and nationally celebrated chefs at 12:20, 1:30, 2:40 and 3:15. Local bartenders will present cocktail demonstrations at 12:55 and 2:05. Want to get off of your feet and take a break? Interactive food, wine and spirits classes within the Grand Tasting Tent in the Visa Signature classroom at 12:15, 1:30 and 2:45 and classes in the KGO classroom at 1:30 and 3:00. Gene Burns will be broadcasting live from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm in one of the classrooms with a live audience of 30. At 1:00 the audience will be welcomed into the tent. Peter Scott from Premium Port Wines and Debbie Zachareas of Ferry Plaza Wine Merchant will walk us through a tasting of 3 Port Wine styles from 2 great Wineries, paired with 1 California Farmstead's cheeses. From Premium Rubies to Aged Tawnies to Fantastic Vintages, you will taste through the Port Wines of both Graham's and Dow's, revered Port Shippers. In addition, Lynn Giacomini Stray from Point Reyes Farmstead Cheese Company will guide us through her Family's award winning cheeses include their latest offering, Point Reyes Toma.

David Mays is your host as we journey through the history, culture and secrets of Whiskey in general, and Bourbon in particular. He’ll tell you why all Bourbon is whiskey, but not all whiskey is Bourbon, and plenty of other tidbits in an informal format that invites questions. We’ll reveal the interesting, mysterious and odd things about Bourbons and whiskies, and sample Basil Hayden and Knob Creek from the Small Batch Bourbon Collection.But don’t stay up too late studying for class the night before – you’ll want to be extra sharp when class begins with the Professor!
